Yoga Teacher Training 200h

January to April 2024

Have you ever thought about becoming a yoga teacher or do you just want to learn more about what yoga truly is so that you can improve your personal practice to help you become a better yogi?

Get ready to dive into the depths of your personal yoga practice while acquiring the tools you need to share your experience with others. That’s what makes the best yoga teacher and yogi, knowing yourself through your own practice. This course is designed with that goal in mind. It will be very intensive to help you immediately break patterns and habits and come directly into contact with your true self. That’s the goal. That’s why we do yoga.

During these four months, we will venture deep into our own practice while focusing on anatomy, physiology, asana, pranayama, teaching methodology, and yogic philosophy. The course will consist of one intensive week in late January followed by six intensive weekends.

Teachers

Jason Revere

Jason Revere

Jason has been on the yoga path for two decades now. His interest started with meditation when he was a teenager which led him to his own self-created yoga practice at home. Not happy with what he found in books he decided to go to India and study at the source. There the real inward journey began. Knowing that not everyone is on a spiritual path, but everyone can benefit from yoga, he decided to create a space where yoga is made accessible to everyone. No dogma, just yoga. We are all free to find what we need from yoga whether it’s relief from stress or pain or just a way to ease our minds. Jason also offers Yoga Coaching. If you want to go further, all you need to do is ask. Otherwise, just enjoy the mat.

Gretchen Garnett

Gretchen has been in love with the movement since she took her first dance class at the age of four. Since then she has been moving, experimenting, creating, and teaching movement in many different forms. She received a diploma in Contemporary Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts and a B.F.A. in Dance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. While living in San Francisco she performed, choreographed, and fell in love with yoga at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center, where she completed her Vinyasa teacher training.

Merdan Akbayir

Merdan Akbayir

For Merdan, yoga is like a best friend, always there by his side, giving him support, strength, and answers to his own questions about life and bringing him closer to himself. As a former biologist and current choreographer and masseur, in yoga, everything comes together for him. Working with the body and learning through direct experience about oneself, choreographing and moving through a sequence of postures, refining the body and mind more and more until finally moving beyond it; into stillness and peace. He is inspired to share his passion for yoga, to empower others on their way to finding a deep sense of peace, connection, and joy within themselves, which is always available for free. The focus in his classes is on breath, intention, and alignment. The whole practice becomes a meditation in movement, ending in the final relaxation posture, where you can let go completely.

Daniel Liddiard

Daniel Liddiard

Daniel started practicing hot yoga in 2016 and completed his first teacher training with us at You Can Yoga in 2021. He specializes in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin and uses yoga to bring himself back into the here and now. This helps him to reevaluate his intentions with his actions. A much-needed practice next to his job as a performer and costume designer. His classes have an open-minded and non-dogmatic approach. Leaving plenty of room for students to understand their own unique bodies and minds. Through the asana practice, Daniel trains students to become stronger, well-balanced, and more focused. In meditation, he encourages everyone to connect to their intentions and create a healthy mind-body connection.

Tobias Oeckler

Tobias Oeckler

Indian music and philosophy sparked his passion and interest in the world of yoga before Tobias had even set foot on a yoga mat. After having lived in many different countries, it was in Amsterdam that he started to follow the path of yoga with dedication and devotion. After a few career changes and life crises later, he then started teacher training and deeply fell in love with the transformative power of yoga. Being a singer-songwriter off the mat, Tobias takes you on a musical journey and makes you smile through well-aligned postures and breath-flowing sequences with some occasional jokes.

What do former students say?

I found You Can Yoga studio a few years ago and since then have never thought of changing it for another studio. In the beginning my practice was irregular and it was just about one year ago when I committed to a daily practice, and starting seeing for myself the benefits of yoga, my body was changing and my mind as well. That’s also when the first Yoga teacher training came about and I immediately knew I wanted to join it. I did not know if wanted to be a teacher in the future, I wanted to learn more about yoga and improve my personal practice. The course was a beautiful experience for me. I learnt a lot and would do it again! The course is well put together and next to learning asanas, anatomy, philosophy, you will also have interesting workshops on e.g. Ayurveda and vocal presence. The teachers are knowledgeable, passionate and each of them has something unique to teach you. There is a lot of focus during the course on the philosophy so you will get to learn what Yoga truly is about. Because the group is small there is always time and opportunity to share your feelings and thoughts (that surely will pop up) with other fellow students and teachers. I left the course with enough knowledge and confidence to develop my own practice and start sharing it with others. I would recommend this course to everyone who wants to learn more about Yoga in a safe, professional and personal atmosphere. And the food is delicious”

Magda

The Yoga Teacher Training of You Can Yoga was for me an extremely good – and intensive – way to deepen my yoga practice. We started with the fulltime week, which really made me focus on only this. Loved it! The group was small and close, which is different compared to other trainings I did. Not just being trained as a yoga teacher together, but also having breakfast/dinner, sharing our practice and the things we were working on. “What do you want?” is what Jason asked us several times during this Teacher Training. I still hear it sometimes during my meditation practice 😉

CAROLA

I’ve participated in the Yoga Teacher Training in You Can Yoga just for the seek of knowing more and I found out that I love teaching. To understand Yoga it is necessary to practice but also to understand the philosophy behind, Yoga is more than just asanas. Jason was the guidance I required to deepen into the practice and get the essence of what yoga truly means.

ALEXIS

After trying one too many large and poorly supervised yoga classes through Onefit, I stumbled across this cosy but excellent yoga school in Zuid and I’m still thankful for it. The school has two locations, both with a wide variety of classes throughout the day. Teachers are kind, experienced and really show passion and compassion during class. As they limit the number of participants, classes are never too big or impersonal. Because I wanted to improve my personal yoga practice, I also decided to join the school’s teacher training in 2018. Honestly the best decision I ever made. If you want to learn more about yoga and/or become a yoga teacher yourself, don’t hesitate – do it here!

I always dreamed to become a Yoga teacher and pass onto others the benefits of its practice. The Yoga Teacher Training was a great blend of asana practice, anatomy, breathing, meditation, and philosophy, ayurveda and most importantly for me, a true guide into the self-realization. During the 4 months course, You Can Yoga Studio was as a second home for us. A save space where Jason, Gianuario, the teachers, special guests and the students discussed the different practices and disciples accomplishing the essence of Yoga and why they are important. We practiced hard, we studied harder, we cried, we laughed and we were challenged to get out of our comfort zone at times and face our worst enemies: Ourselves! I feel that this journey of self-realization and whatever that entitles for me is not over. The training was just the door opening to the beginning of this undoubtedly gift that I made to myself few months ago. Grateful and thankful I am to my You Can Yoga family for providing me with the opportunity to start understanding all this and for putting wonderful souls along my way that are in the same journey.

elena

I did my yoga teacher training here and it was wonderful. I have been doing yoga all of my life, so I was looking for a more interesting experience that was going to teach me the true foundation of yoga, which extends far beyond physical postures. The original context of yoga was spiritual development and the mind-body practices to develop our inner consciousness. Jason not only went beyond basic meditation and breathing guidance but also made this spiritual development the foundation of our training. He brought forward real topics to awaken our awareness and help us develop our human experience through the development of a self-practice. The instructors introduced in his training were also all very personable and knowledgeable! Each has something special to offer that they taught with passion. I looked long and hard for a YTT and was happy to have found this high-quality, great value, small-group experience focused on personal learning and development. I received this plus 14 new friends and wonderful teachers I can contact anytime to continue my journey! Thank you to everyone at You Can Yoga! 🙂
